## Learn Tone is the writer's attitude. Look for loaded adjectives, contrast, exaggeration, and what the writer chooses to praise or question.
### Examples 1. ‘A welcome improvement’ suggests support. 2. ‘Another avoidable delay’ suggests criticism or frustration. 3. ‘Perhaps the notice could have been clearer’ suggests polite concern.
### Common mistake Do not decide tone from one neutral word; use a pattern of language in the passage.
